17-Dec-07: Ron Dennis Isn’t About to Quit
Today is Monday the 17th December 2007, and this is F1 Minute.
Ron Dennis has repeatedly denied any talk of his quitting McLaren, despite pressure from outside forces. Since the official apology last week, several media folk have been lobbying for the team principal’s resignation. Dennis says this is not going to happen, as he doesn’t believe it would be in the best interests of the team.
The new McLaren line up for 2008 looks to be a lot more peaceful than this past season, with Heikki Kovalainen vowing to get along with his new team mate Lewis Hamilton. Kovalainen has said he is confident that he will be treated equally by the team and he’s positive that relationships within the organisation will remain good.
And Ferrari technical director Aldo Costa has been talking about the progress of the 2008 car, saying that he’s pushing hard through the winter to get on top at the start of next season. He also said the next car will be brand new, although there are no radical changes planned. Costa felt like their 2007 development rate was acceptable but next year they will need to focus on reliability.
That’s all for today, please join me tomorrow for another F1 Minute.

Who are pressuring him to resign? Ferrari.Once again it sounds like ‘the powers that be’ are trying to take something, or in this case, someone away from us, the fans. There’s an old saying : ‘if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it.’ Ron Dennis is great at his roll as McLaren team principle.Look at all the titles he’s won with the team he’s built. He should not resign, not until he has won at least one more championship with the team; then at least he can retire with Peace of mind, no loose ends…and all is money.

as i understand it, F1 press and media people. they’re probably a bit annoyed that ron spent the whole year denying them access to lewis, and thus figure their lives would be a whole lot better without him.
also, possibly because they’re very keen to please FIA and not get sued like brundle!

I don’t think he should quit. In my mind, it’s his team and essentially he can do what he likes with it. The media only care because of Lewis, and they’re feeling that McLaren lost him the championship. They think it’s just like the football. But it’s much more complex than that.

Good god!, they are gonna sue Martin Brundle!.I didn’t know that. This gets more outrageous by the day.Sooner or later their brutish totalitarianism will cast it’s eyes on rebels like us.If they do, i’m gonna stand my ground…unless they threaten to sue me of course, ha ha!. Thanks for including my site on your blogroll by the way.
