16-Jan-08: Red Bull Launch on Final Test Day at Jerez
It’s the 16th January 2008, and this is F1 Minute. Today it’s all about the headlines.
Red Bull Racing launched their new car at Jerez, confirming Sebastian Buemi as test driver at the same time. Webber refused to make any predictions for the upcoming season, saying he only wants to improve on last year, whilst Coulthard said the team need to start getting results.
Coulthard has also been speaking out about safety again, talking of the higher risk of an incident under the new rules. He said he’s not the only one who is concerned, but other drivers are worried about speaking up in case they’re considered weak.
The EU has called for F1 to try and raise the public’s awareness of green technologies in the motor industry. Max Mosley said he was happy that F1 had been acknowledged for its environmentally friendly policies and is open to doing more.
The final day of testing saw Timo Glock on top, Hamilton causing two red flags and Bourdais in the Toro Rosso beating Massa in the Ferrari.
Meanwhile BMW were testing at Valencia, but bad weather meant Robert Kubica couldn’t get on with the team’s testing schedule.
That’s all for today, join me again tomorrow for another F1 Minute.
