13-Feb-08: Webber Fastest in Jerez
It’s the 13th February, I’m Christine and this is F1 Minute.
Mark Webber put his Red Bull at the top of the timesheets today, ahead of two Williams and Fernando Alonso in fourth. There were two red flags, one from Coulthard in the other Red Bull and one from Piquet in the other Renault. Honda benefited from a new rear wing today, although it didn’t appear to affect lap times with Barrichello finishing second to last.
Trulli has been talking about the chances of Toyota getting a podium next year, he said it’s completely unrealistic due to the speed of the Ferrari’s. Quote: “In my opinion, even compared to McLaren, they are at least half a second faster per lap. Good night then, I feel the championship is already over even before the start.” He did say that his new car is an improvement on last year, especially in its handling on old tyres.
Finally, today, the FIA have announced an initiative called “Racing against Racism” which is intended to show that the sport will not put up with the behaviour witnessed at the recent test sessions. It’s unclear what the campaigners are actually going to do about it, but McLaren have signed up immediately.
That’s all for today, please join me tomorrow for another F1 Minute.

Christine,
While “Me” states that Ferrari are doing opposite lock sandbagging on this: it is still a little worrying. I hate those seasons where someone is so much faster than the others and runs off into the distance, like in Mansells season.

Yea, even Trulli himself said looking at the Ferraris was “depressing”. I remain optimistic but those red cars have a habit of dominating proceedings.

I also see Ferrari ahead of everybody this year.
I believe by the fourth race; we will be able to see who will win this year…………..
“Racing against Racism”….see what a few idiots can cause?
Do we really need this in F1?

I don’t even understand what the Racing Against Racism thing is actually going to do!? I think someone just came up with a catchy title and thought it sounded good.
