  • Canadian GP fails in rescue bid - Montreal's mayor Gerald Tremblay admitted at a press conference on Sunday that organisers had failed in their attempts to strike a deal to reinstate the race, with the government unable to justify the cost of keeping the event at the current asking price.
  • Force India to have last test with Ferrari engines in Barcelona - The upcoming Formula One test in Barcelona will be the last event in which a Force India car is powered by a Ferrari engine. The Indian team will use Mercedes engines as from the 2009 season on, so the team will not be wasting time with the 056 unit from next week onward.

A spokesperson from Force India confirmed this to 'Manipe F1', "We will be in Barcelona next week for our last test with Ferrari engines. We will not test again until we have our 2009 Mercedes-powered car.” Which most likely means that the team will not test again for the remainder of the year.

  • Rubens absent from Honda Barca roster - Honda has confirmed its driver schedule for the winter’s first test at Barcelona next week – with Rubens Barrichello absent while Brazilian compatriots Bruno Senna and Lucas di Grassi audition for his seat.

Button and Wurz will carry out the team’s main work in a modified RA108 which will feature 2009-spec aero parts and slick tyres.

Honda also confirmed that it would complete two further three-day tests before the end of the year as it looks to maximise its 2009 preparation work in a bid to make a major step forward next season.
