  • Hamilton loses out to Hoy – The award is handed to the sportsman with the most votes from the general public, with Hoy seemingly having inspired the whole of (his native) Scotland to back him. However, Hamilton, who finished ahead of another Olympic gold medal winner, Rebecca Adlington, didn't seem too disappointed.
  • Hartley wants to collect Superlicense at Jerez – Red Bull Racing junior driver, Brendon Hartley, will once again test for the F1 team at Jerez this week. The youngster aims to qualify for a FIA Superlicense at the Spanish track. To do so, the 19-year-old has to complete 300km and if he succeeds, Hartley will be able to test or race at official F1 events.
  • Ecclestone calls for medal system support – But in a rallying call issued on his own official F1 website, Ecclestone says he has no doubts fans should support the move because it would make the sport much more interesting.

    "Quite simply, it will make Formula One a much more exciting spectacle because it will incentivise drivers to race to win," said Ecclestone.
