Welcome to F1 Minute, it’s the 5th February 2009.

Bourdais is set to return to F1 action in Jerez next week, taking at least two days in the upcoming test. A Toro Rosso spokeswoman confirmed that he’ll be in the car on Thursday and Friday, with Buemi covering duties on the other days. Naturally, this would appear to be good news for the Frenchman being the favourite for the second seat with the team, although there is no official announcement as yet. Bourdais hasn’t been in the car since early December.

Elsewhere, the FIA have said that the rear diffusers on the Toyota and Williams are legal and within the regulations. Max Mosley was at a lunch with reporters yesterday, and told them: “The current view is that Williams and Toyota have been clever and have exploited the wording of the rules in a clever way.” He said this always happens with new regulations and also admitted that teams could still officially protest against the parts once the season gets underway.

That’s it for today, please join me again tomorrow for another F1 Minute.
