Today is the 13th May 2009, and this is F1 Minute.
Renault are the next team to announce they won’t join the 2010 championship unless the budget caps rules are changed. A statement issued by the team today says: “It should be stressed that FOTA has set the same, if not lower, financial objective as the FIA, but Renault strongly believes that this must be introduced through a different procedure agreed by all parties.”
Meanwhile, reaction continues to pour forth regarding Ferrari’s threat to quit, with Luca di Montezemolo suggesting the team could take their passion for F1 and find the same in other championships. We’ve also heard from the drivers with Massa saying that racing a Ferrari in Formula 1 was the dream, but more about the Ferrari than the series, so it could work elsewhere. Raikkonen agrees that it’s hard to think of Formula 1 without Ferrari, but that it’s hard to imagine the sport with the intended regulations anyway.
That’s it for today, I’ll be back tomorrow with another F1 Minute.
