It’s the 15th July 2009 and this is F1 Minute.
Martin Whitmarsh is feeling much more positive about McLaren’s car now, and thinks the team could even fight for a win in Hungary. The Hungaroring is the circuit where Heikki Kovalainen scored his first and only F1 win so far, this time last year, and with their improved performance in Germany, Whitmarsh thinks a repeat isn’t out of the question. He says: “We always go for the victory, but we don’t always have the equipment to go for it. Hopefully in Hungary we will have the equipment to really go for it.”
Meanwhile, both Red Bull teams are getting their acts together for the future, with Toro Rosso confirming the worst kept secret in the world, that Bourdais has left. However, sister team Red Bull like their current line up of drivers, with Christian Horner suggesting they will be opening up talks soon to try and tempt Webber to stay on board alongside Vettel. Horner says the Australian is a “very valued member of the team.”
That’s all for now, please join me again tomorrow for another F1 Minute.
