Today is the 3rd September 2009, and this is F1Minute.

It turns out all the speculation is true and Fisichella has been confirmed for the second seat at Ferrari for the rest of the season. Force India broke the news with a press release, including a glowing report from Mallya. The Force India boss also said: “...the agreement will secure Giancarlo’s long-term future with Ferrari and it would be incorrect jeopardise this, particularly when Giancarlo has made such a vital contribution to Force India.”

Fisi naturally says it is a dream come true, and thanks Mallya for the opportunity. And Ferrari have faith in their new driver, with Stefano Domenicali saying: “We have chosen Fisichella because we can expect him to make a valuable contribution in this final part of the season. Giancarlo has shown, throughout his long career, that he is fast and competitive and we are therefore proud to be able to run an Italian driver in our home race.” They also thank Badoer, but... I bet they don’t mean it.
