Virgin Racing debuts car at Silverstone

Welcome to F1Minute for the 5th February 2010.

Virgin Racing took their car to the track today, as it completed it’s first ever run in a shakedown at Silverstone. Nick Wirth said: “Today was all about those tentative first few steps but the programme really gets underway tomorrow with a full day of on-track evaluation for both Timo and Lucas.” Glock added that it was good to see the car in action and he really liked being back in a racing car.

Towards the end of last year, Bridgestone had to alter the two-step gap between the compounds and reduce it back to a single step because it was deemed dangerous at selected tracks. The tyre supplier has said that they are keeping the two-step gap where they can for 2010, although at Monaco and anywhere else necessary, they will continue with soft and super-soft for safety reasons. It also appears the green markings will continue.

Finally, long-range weather forecasts suggest that next week’s test in Jerez may face some weather issues, but who trusts the weathermen?

That’s all for now, I’ll be back on Monday with another F1Minute.
