Vettel takes pole position in Turkey

Posted by on

Today is the 6th June and this is F1Minute.

Sebastian Vettel scored his second pole position today in Turkey, snatching it from the grasp of Jenson Button. In fact, in the dying moments of the session, Vettel’s Red Bull teammate Webber was on top, pushed down by Button and Barrichello, only for Sebastian to take the top spot. He is on a lighter fuel load than the Brawn’s but is confident ahead of the race.

The big surprise was Alonso who clawed his way into 8th place, but has the lightest fuel load of anyone. However, it’s clear the car needs some work, and Piquet found himself spinning out of Q1 and with a grid slot of 17th. The BMWs were much improved, running their new double diffuser, with Kubica ahead in 10th, and Heidfeld just missing out in 11th. The other notable early casualty was Hamilton who couldn’t make it into the second session and lines up 16th. Kovalainen is just a couple of places further forward in 14th.

That’s all for now, please join me again tomorrow for another F1Minute.
