Diffusers key to championship says Kimi

Today is the 8th April 2009 and you’re listening to F1Minute.

Kimi Raikkonen has said that the results of the diffuser hearing next week will have a big impact on the championship fight this season. Although the team have KERS – when it works – Kimi still believes that the rear diffuser design of Williams, Toyota and Brawn GP is giving them the edge. He said: “We're missing grip and downforce. You just need to analyse the performance in the three sectors at Sepang to understand that we're losing a lot compared to the best cars. You could see it especially in the middle sector where downforce is really crucial.” He added that they are working on it, though, and hope for improvements in China.

Meanwhile, the FIA have released further details about the hearing, and it looks like all teams except Force India and Toro Rosso will be represented, although STR can really be bundled in with Red Bull. Even McLaren will be heard, despite the fact they didn’t enter a protest in the first place.

That’s it for today, please join me tomorrow for another F1Minute.
