Honda may race at season start

Welcome to F1Minute for Friday, 13th February 2009.

The Guardian is reporting that Honda have secured enough funds to race at the first four Grands Prix of the season. Apparently sources close to the team have found that Button will be teamed with Bruno Senna, who brings enough funding from his Brazilian sponsors to get the team running through the start of the season. Although there is no official confirmation on any of this yet, it’s also reported that they’ll use Mercedes engines. Hopefully there will be an announcement with more information soon.

In testing news today, Bahrain finally saw some running, with Raikkonen leading the way ahead of Toyota and BMW. Over in Jerez, Hamilton was the fastest 2009 car, with Bourdais on top overall. For the first time all week, Renault seemed to have improved running, with Alonso finishing just two tenths off Hamilton’s fastest time. Webber returned to the car for the second time, and completed 92 laps.

That’s it for today, and this week, join me on Monday for another F1Minute.
