Rosberg and Barrichello lead Monaco practice

It’s the 21st May 2009 and this is F1Minute.
It was business as usual in Monaco today, as Barrichello was fastest in FP1 and Rosberg set the fastest time in FP2. However, it was all eyes on McLaren and Ferrari, as both the big teams seemed to show improved performance. Hamilton was second fastest at the end of the day, whilst Massa was fifth.
In the morning, Vettel suffered an engine failure, and the Red Bull mechanics had to work feverishly to get his car out in time for some running in Free Practice 2. Webber also compounded their problems as he was worried about a vibration in the car and also didn’t run until midway through the afternoon.
Kubica’s BMW engine blew in the early stages of the second session. He had yet to set a time and had to pull off track with flames and plenty of smoke coming from the back of the car. No one had a problem with the barriers all day, but we did see a lot of drivers using the run off areas, presumably because of the green track.
That’s it for today, I’ll be back tomorrow with another F1Minute.
