Fisichella takes pole position for Belgium GP

Welcome to F1Minute, it’s the 29th August 2009.
I know you won’t believe me but Giancarlo Fisichella took pole position at Spa today. It wasn’t raining or anything. For an unknown reason the sessions were completely messed up and Quali 2 saw some big names out. Fisichella and Trulli were among the fastest in all three qualifying sessions, whilst Q2 saw Hamilton, Alonso, Button and Kovalainen all fail to make the cut. The final top five were Fisichella, Trulli, Heidfeld, Barrichello and Kubica.
Webber starts ninth and was reprimanded for impeding another driver, although it’s not clear who, or why he didn’t get a penalty.
Badoer was last and even ended up stuck in the gravel, causing yellow flags and ruining a couple of other peoples laps for his trouble. The Italian has admitted that the negative press is starting to get him down, but he has no regrets on his decision to race for the team, although he admits it wasn’t ideal as he hadn’t been in an F1 car for 10 months.
That’s all for now, I’ll be back tomorrow with another F1Minute.
