Hello and welcome to F1Minute - HRT confirm Narain Karthikeyan for Indian GP.
Hispania Racing have confirmed that their former driver Narain Karthikeyan will return to the car for the upcoming Indian Grand Prix. The news is not a surprise, as Karthikeyan will be celebrating his home race, but he will also get behind the wheel during Free Practice in Singapore to familiarise himself with the car. Narain was last in the HRT for the European Grand Prix in June, and a practice session in Germany.
Talking of the opportunity, Karthikeyan said: “Of course it’s a great feeling to be driving on a Grand Prix weekend once again, and on the subject of my home Grand Prix of India, the team had assured me that I’d be driving when I stepped out of my seat after the European GP.” He added that he’s looking forward to the challenge of Singapore, citing it as a demanding circuit.
Team Principal at HRT, Colin Kolles, spoke of the news: “It’s great to have Narain back in the car as it will give him critical seat time before he drives at the Indian GP. He’s the best driver to come out of the region and is undoubtedly extremely talented, as he has proved through his progress this season.”
