Welcome to F1Minute - Jules Bianchi tops second day of testing in Magny-Cours.
Yesterday, Jules Bianchi was at the top of the timesheets in France for the young driver test, but he was in a Ferrari. Today, he did the same thing in a Force India, shaving almost two seconds off his day one time.
In his place, Ferrari put Davide Rigon, an Italian driver who was driving in the GP2 series until last year when he was forced out of the season through injury. Sam Bird was back on duty in the Mercedes, finishing second of the three drivers.
Meanwhile, back to the pacesetter Bianchi, he completed 117 laps throughout the day and impressed the team. Chief Engineer Jakob Andreasen spoke of the young driver, saying: “We’ve had an excellent day with Jules - he really stepped up to the task in hand and continued to impress all of us... It was clear he felt comfortable in the car and we saw his confidence continue to grow with each run.”
Tomorrow Force India will run Rodolfo Gonzalez, Brendan Hartley will be in the Mercedes whilst Bianchi returns to Ferrari.
