This is F1Minute - Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel lead Monza free practice.

It was nice and sunny at Monza today as two Free Practice sessions were completed. The morning session got off to a slow start, with no major running until almost forty minutes in.

Lewis Hamilton set an early benchmark and was not to be beaten - well, only by himself just a few minutes from the end of first practice. McLaren teammate Jenson Button was behind him with Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel third. Nico Hülkenberg was in for Force India, whilst Karun Chandhok took Jarno Trulli’s place in the Lotus. Teammate Heikki Kovalainen had a bit of a setback with some gearbox trouble.

Trulli was back in the car for the second session though. Vettel and Hamilton battled for the fastest time between them, with Vettel eventually winning out. Hamilton was just three hundredths of a second behind him, with Michael Schumacher a little further back for Mercedes.

Sébastien Buemi was the biggest casualty of FP2, with a big crash for the Toro Rosso driver. He was unhurt, but the car sustained a lot of damage, giving the mechanics some work to do overnight.
