This is F1Minute - Pirelli confirm tyre compounds for Japan, Korea and India.
With the second half of this enticing season in full swing, F1’s sole tyre supplier Pirelli have announced which compounds they will be bringing to another three races - Japan, Korea and India.
Both Japan and India will feature the soft and hard compounds, chosen for their durability around the fast Suzuka circuit, and the hot climate of Delhi. In Korea, we’ll see the soft and supersofts - usually saved for street circuits, but the tight turns of the track favour the grip provided by these softer compounds.
It’s not all good news from the Pirelli camp, however, as they’ve revealed that their test car was brought to an abrupt halt in Barcelona suffering from an alternator failure - the same sort of problem that affected Sebastian Vettel in Monza, and both Romain Grosjean and Vettel again in Valencia.
Renault’s head of track operations, Remi Taffin, is hoping they will find the solution sooner rather than later, saying: “We really hope that we can strip it and eventually understand what is going on, so we can put our finger on the failed mechanism. It is not a difficult part to understand.”
