Felipe Massa led the way on the third day of pre-season testing in Jerez, with a time set in the morning that endured all the way to the end of the day. It was also the fastest time of the week so far, and eight tenths ahead of Nico Rosberg behind him. Mileage was the name of the day as Rosberg, Sebastian Vettel and Esteban Gutiérrez all completed over 100 laps.
In fact, Rosberg completed 148, which meant Mercedes could make up for lost time after two shortened days due to mechanical issues.
Meanwhile, James Rossiter was back in action in the Force India, but unfortunately he mistimed a stop in the pit lane and hit the mechanic with the front jack. Although thrown up into the air, the mechanic was mostly uninjured - a bit bruised and a bit shaken, but okay overall.
Tyre suppliers Pirelli aren’t happy with testing so far, with Paul Hembery complaining of a lack of bitumen in the tarmac that creates a rough surface that is shredding the tyres. He says it is worse than last year, and they aren’t learning very much at all.
