This is F1Minute - Red Bull lead all three days of testing in Abu Dhabi.
The young driver test has come to a close today, with Jean-Éric Vergne leading the way for Red Bull for three sessions in a rwo. The French driver feels that he has done the best job he could as well, telling Autosport: “This shows that I have the pace to be in F1, but it’s up to Red Bull to decide.” He will be back in the car in Brazil practice as well, so has one more chance to shine.
Meanwhile, Esteban Gutierrez, driving for Sauber this week, was looking for improvements yesterday, saying: “It’s most important to be consistent and give the right feedback. If I push too much to find the limit then I could make mistakes and I will not know what to say to the team.” I hope he thought of something, as today he spun the car off track, caused a red flag and a little bit of damage as well.
Finally, Mercedes became the next team to try their hand at the 2012 regulation exhausts, after Williams did the same thing on Tuesday. Ross Brawn previously stated that it was a compromise on the current car but would give them some idea of how the car will work. They finished the day second overall with Sam Bird behind the wheel.
