Sauber sign Perez for 2011

Today is the 6th October 2010 and this is F1Minute.

Last time, I mentioned that Renault were talking to Kimi Raikkonen about a possible return to the F1 grid in 2011, but the Finn has confirmed that he isn’t coming back, and he’s not happy about how the whole thing has been handled either. The current rally star said: “I am very disappointed with how they have used my name for their own marketing. I have never even seriously considered driving for Renault, and I can assure you that I am 100 per cent sure that I will not drive for Renault next season.” So, that is them told. In other Renault news, managing director Bob Bell has left the team with immediate effect, and his role is being covered by principal Eric Boullier for now.

Elsewhere, Sauber have their 2011 team all lined up, having signed Mexican GP2 driver Sergio Perez to sit alongside Kobayashi. That must leave Heidfeld disappointed, as his stint in the car will come to an end earlier than he might have hoped.

And quickly to finish, Alex Wurz will be on the stewarding panel in Japan this weekend, so look out for him.
