You’re listening to F1Minute - Sebastian Vettel secures pole position for Hungarian Grand Prix.

The final practice session offered little insight into what may happen in qualifying, except Sebastian Vettel was fastest. Going into the qualifying hour, it was cloudy but dry, and the wind was strong but manageable.

Q1 saw Sébastian Buemi fighting to get a good position but ultimately settling for 18th knowing that whatever he achieved, he’d be getting a five place grid penalty anyway.

Pastor Maldonado was the one who improved and knocked him back into the drop zone, but the Williams driver did not bother to go out for a time in Q2, saving fuel and tyres, hoping for better things for tomorrow. The top drivers set their times and returned to the pitlane so it was a scrabble for the midfield positions - Both Williams and Renault drivers were knocked out, plus Di Resta, Kobayashi and Alguersuari.

The final fight for pole had Lewis Hamilton set the benchmark, but on the very last laps, Sebastian Vettel took the position. Jenson Button qualified third, Massa fourth, ahead of Alonso for the first time this season, whilst Mark Webber struggled back in sixth.
