This is F1Minute - Webber halts Alonso charge to win British Grand Prix.
Fernando Alonso led the way from pole position at Silverstone, as the race began in dry and sunny conditions - for a change. The Ferrari driver opted for a different strategy to those around him, starting on the harder compound and switching to the softs for his last stint. With just five laps to go, the tyres could no longer keep a super fast Red Bull behind, and Mark Webber overtook to take the lead, and the victory.
Elsewhere, Caterham driver Vitaly Petrov could not participate in the race after his car pulled to a stop on the formation lap. Paul di Resta retired from the race after an early collision caused a puncture, and the subsequent lap to the pits created further damage. Sergio Pérez was the other driver to retire, after a collision with Pastor Maldonado as the Sauber was overtaking the Williams.
Kamui Kobayashi was also having an eventful afternoon, as he overshot his pit box during a stop and knocked several mechanics over. Thankfully, there were no serious injuries. Webber took the win ahead of Alonso, with Sebastian Vettel joining the pair on the podium.
