2010 Preview
From the F1 Digest 2010 Season Preview:
If Alonso talked about his move back to Renault in 2009 as coming home, he must have just been talking about a temporary stopgap until he moved on again to Ferrari. The long, long, long rumoured transfer finally came to fruition, and Alonso dons the red overalls to take his place with the Italians. What can he achieve now he’s at the team he wants to finish his career with? Ferrari didn’t have the pace last year, but they also had their fair share of bad luck, and difficult times. Swapping drivers repeatedly in the final few races of the season wasn’t helpful, but that was Massa’s side of the garage. Alonso replaces a somewhat lacklustre Raikkonen, who has moved on to happier times in rallying.
It’s about time we saw a return to the double champion who beat Schumacher first time round. He’s got the opportunity to do it again, in the car that Schumacher has given up. Initial reports would suggest that Alonso is happy with the machinery he’s got – he declared the Ferrari the best car he’s ever driven. Ever.
