2010 Preview
From the F1 Digest 2010 Season Preview:
It’s an entire year now, since Webber was preparing for the 2009 season with a broken leg on board. The injuries saw repurcussions throughout the year, as Webber was there or thereabouts, but never quite on par with Vettel. He finally broke through the barrier and became a race winner in Germany, his first of two victories. The race in Brazil also saw an Australian winner, but by then everyone’s attention was on the champions rather than the guy on the top step of the podium.
Now that he has a year of recovery under his belt, and has the proverbial monkey off his back, Webber should be in a much better position to challenge Vettel for races this year. Both drivers will benefit from the Newey car, even if they may suffer at the determination to stay equal. It’s a nice idea, but sometimes, just sometimes, the strategy has to lean one way or the other. Webber can use this year to prove he deserves as much chance as anyone, without the hindrance of injury hanging over him.
