2010 Preview
From the F1 Digest 2010 Season Preview:
Is it possible to sum up Schumacher in just one minute? More to the point, is it possible to do it without upsetting anyone? Hamilton has caused his fair share of controversy in his so far short F1 career, but Schumi is at a whole other level. For better or worse,, the seven times world champion is back and ready for a fresh challenge with a new team. Inspired by the opportunity to sub for Massa in 2009, which he had to pass up due to a motorbike related neck injury, Schumacher is all fired up and ready to get back to work with Ross Brawn – his old strategy guru and now boss of the Mercedes GP team.
By far the oldest man on the field, it’s not going to be easy for Schumacher. He left the sport when Alonso was dominating, and has returned to find the Spaniard taking his place at Ferrari. There have been three brand new champions since his retirement in 2006, and the field is closing up all the time. It’s certainly a new challenge for the German, and he appears to be fired up to get back behind the wheel. Those of us who aren’t necessarily fans are bracing ourselves for the season ahead, but you never know, we might be pleasantly surprised.
