2010 Preview

From the F1 Digest 2010 Season Preview:

The season hasn’t even started yet and I already feel incredibly sorry for Rosberg – something I have never had a propensity to do before. The German moved to the Mercedes GP team, hoping that the championship winning constructor would be a step up for him. Potentially, it is, but I imagine he was expecting a teammate more like Nick Heidfeld, then the dominant Schumacher. Already, the mind games have started. Rosberg is adament that he won’t be walked all over, whilst at the same time Ross Brawn handed Schumi the higher number without even blinking at the request. Maybe not what he signed up for, but it’s too late to back out now.

Besides, where would Nico go? He has raced for Williams for his entire F1 career of four years, and despite picking up the most points he ever has in 2009, he decided it was time to move on. At the time, it seemed like a sensible decision. Nico hasn’t finished higher than 7th in the driver’s championship, and although we’ve seen flashes of good speed and ability, there has never really been anything to write home about. Previously you could blame the car, and now, potentially, you can blame teammate favouritism. We will have to see.
