2010 Preview

From the F1 Digest 2010 Season Preview:

Kubica was another driver that had a stellar 2008 season and found himself struggling once the new season began. His BMW team had thwarted his plans to fight for the championship, and they were nowhere near ready to take the next stage of the plan – fighting for the title from the first race. Last year, he only managed to finish on the podium once – in that Brazilian race that was overshadowed by Brawn GP. Robert wasn’t shy about airing his thoughts on how his team had let him down, so it probably wasn’t a surprise when Kubica announced a switch to Renault, and then BMW confirmed they would be leaving the sport. He spent most of the latter half of the season going through the motions, waiting until he could move on. And so, move on he has, and he’s now at Renault – a fresh start for everyone involved. There was a little bit of concern on the part of Kubica, well, his manager at least, when Genii Capital took a controlling share in the ailing Renault team. However, things all worked out for the best, and Kub has a team to work with. Known for his, erm, constructive feedback, otherwise known as a list of gripes during every single session, if anyone can help develop that car back into a winner, I’d say a revitalised Robert would have a good go.
