2010 Preview

From the F1 Digest 2010 Season Preview:

Last year, it became strikingly obvious just how much damage the time spent as a Ferrari number two driver did to Rubens. He did his very best for Brawn GP and put in some sterling performances, but when things weren’t going well, he was quick to blame the team. Many of the suggestions of inequality were blown out of all proportion by the media, and talks of a rift were clearly unfounded, but the seeds of doubt were there in Barrichello’s mind and everyone could see them. Fast forward a year, and he is faced with the return of Schumacher. His stark warning to Rosberg has already shown that he’s not impressed with the former champion’s comeback, but perhaps now he has raced alongside, er, nicer teammates, he will be okay. There’s no doubt that he is the number one driver at Williams, with Nico Hulkenberg starting his rookie season. The question must be, is the desire to race and to win still there? Rubens says yes, the championship still eludes him, and he is ingratiating himself with his new team, working hard for them and with them to meet a common goal. This year is going to be an interesting one for Rubens. Last year it seemed as though he had been given a lucky break to continue at the newly created Brawn, now may be his second wind.
